Understanding Risks of Pesticides of Concern

While the Bay watershed is the largest and most biologically diverse estuary in the United States, living resources in this economically important watershed are stressed by various pollutants resulting from human activity, including the use of pesticides. Prompted by concern that no methodology had been established to assess and prioritize the potential threat from these chemical pollutants, members of the Project’s Research Working Group are developing such a system.

The purpose of the methodology will be to inform scientists, government agencies and policy makers about existing data on pesticides widely used in the Bay watershed, as well as to identify data gaps and inform further inquiry.
